Building the central body plug, part three

It’s nice to see it taking solid form, but two things come to mind:

  1. This would be a lot easier with a hot wire to cut the foam. A razor is not very easy to get a nice cut with — if I use a hot wire I suspect there will be a lot less sanding and shaping work to do.
  2. It’s harder than it looks and I think it’ll be a little wonky… meaning I may have a fair amount of second-phase shaping using spray insulation or something like that!

    Watch out for spray insulation.
The stuff I worked with was not closed cell (greatstuff) and it soaked water up like a sponge. My project almost sank. I ended up sealing all the open pores with epoxy.

You can find Nichrome wire at Mcmaster.com.
