About the Aquasub
The Aquasub is a “snorkel sub” designed by RQ Riley from whom you can buy plans and build it yourself. The snorkel sub is a pod that you sit in attached to a pair of pontoons. The pod can be lowered three or four feet under the water (it can go no deeper), while air is supplied from the pontoons. It’s built using fiberglass over a simple metal frame, and is powered by a pair of electric motors. Here’s a submerged photo of the RQ Riley prototype in a pool:

About Me
I have minimal fabrication, construction, and fiberglass experience — I have no skills that would make this project especially easy for me. This is the first time I’m tackling a project like this. If you’re interested, my personal blog, which includes some of the other things I do is at Zentastic.com, and if you enjoy this blog you might also like my kit car website.
About this Site
The reason I decided to do this site is that even though the Aquasub has been around for a long time — since the seventies — I can find no reference to anyone building it, let alone documentation of a construction… So I thought it was about time someone did! Hopefully this will inspire others to build an Aquasub, or some other DIY project that strikes their fancy.
